For the global high net worth investor eyeing a second residence, Zimbabwe entices with economic potential, strategic positioning, and cultural diversity. From the vibrant energy of Harare to the tranquillity of Victoria Falls, the real estate sector shows promise. Government initiatives for foreign investors enhance the allure, providing pathways to residency or citizenship amid a dynamic fusion of heritage and progress.
There is no formal citizenship by investment programme in Zimbabwe, while the country offers opportunities for foreign investors and has attractive real estate options, acquiring citizenship solely through investment is not an established pathway.
Zimbabwe offers residency through their Investor Residence Permit. This is designed for companies or foreign nationals who wish to invest in a business or start-up in the country. More favourable and passive investor visa options are available elsewhere, such as Greece’s Golden Visa programme, which requires a straight-forward real estate investment in return for permanent residency.
Zimbabwe ranks 143 on La Vida’s Global Passport Ranking. This ranking implies moderate global travel access for Zimbabwean passport holders. If Zimbabwe were to establish a second citizenship programme, foreign investors could potentially gain visa-free entry to 33% of countries, accounting for 14.5% of global travel destinations. Stronger passports are available through established Citizenship by Investment programmes including options such as the St Kitts Citizenship Investment programme.
