Effective from August 1, 2024, Antigua and Barbuda have launched a revised pricing model for their Citizenship by Investment Programme (CBI). This follows a month’s extension of the previous pricing structure due to legislative delays. While other Caribbean nations implemented their updated prices on July 1, Antigua faced a delay that postponed their new pricing until August. This resulted in a surge of last-minute applications from investors seeking to take advantage of the lower pricing before the new thresholds took effect, particularly those who had missed the deadlines in other countries.

New Investment Thresholds

The updated CBI pricing introduces new minimum investment thresholds across various approved options, as follows:

  • Real Estate Investment: $300,000
  • UWI Fund/Higher Education: $260,000 (inclusive of processing fees)
  • National Development Fund: $230,000
  • Investment in Business:
    • $1.5 million for a single investor
    • $5 million for joint investments, with no party investing less than $400,000

Real Estate Investment

The minimum investment in real estate has been set at $300,000, which is $25,000 less than the originally proposed amount.

UWI Fund/Higher Education

The investment threshold for the University of the West Indies (UWI) Fund is now $260,000, inclusive of processing fees. This option supports educational development and presents a cost-effective route to citizenship. This option is available to families of six or more and also comes with the additional advantage of a one-year free scholarship to the University of the West Indies for one member of the family.

National Development Fund

Contributions to the National Development Fund are set at a minimum of $230,000. This investment route remains one of the most economical ways to obtain Antiguan citizenship.

Investment in Business

The investment requirements for business ventures remain unchanged. A single investor must commit $1.5 million, while joint investments require a total of $5 million, with no single party contributing less than $400,000.

In addition to the above-mentioned investment thresholds, investors need to budget for additional fees. These include government processing and application fees, due diligence fees, and various other costs such as banking fees.
