Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama appeared on a panel this week at the Henley & Partners 13th Global Citizenship Conference to reveal plans for a citizenship by investment programme in Albania. The conference at the Rosewood Hotel in London, was attended by several representatives from La Vida.

His Excellency Edi Rama (3rd left) was accompanied on stage by the Prime Minister of Montenegro, Dusko Markovic (2nd left) and Allen Chastanet the Prime Minister for St. Lucia (1st right). All three prime ministers were invited to discuss the benefits that citizenship by investment programmes can bring to national economies.

Montenegro recently launched its citizenship programme and revealed a further three real estate projects in the north of the country that would be qualify at an investment level of €250,000 per main applicant. The programme is restricted to 2,000 applicants in the first 3 years.

The programme in St. Lucia through government donation starting at $100,000 for a single applicant, has been running for several years and Mr Chastanet talked about the significant benefits that the programme has brought to St. Lucia.

Albania is yet to reveal investment and qualification details for its programme. However there is clearly a political will to open up the economy to the international investment community and La Vida will be assessing the details of such a programme for our clients in due course.
