Residency investment in Spain could ultimately lead to citizenship and a Spanish passport which will bring visa-free access to 199 countries and territories worldwide. This represents 80.7% of the world’s wealth measured by GDP and 91.9% of worldwide travel popularity based on international visitors. The 199 total destinations include 171 countries and 28 overseas territories. That’s 87.7% of total worldwide destinations. But this is a simple measure as it counts all destinations equally. At La Vida, our unique GDP and Travel Popularity measures take account of the “quality” of those destinations. That way not all countries are counted equally and you receive an intelligent assessment of just what your investment brings in terms of visa-free access.
The combination or fit of a second passport with your existing passport is often overlooked when deciding on a citizenship by investment programme. Your own passport will already have its own visa-free travel list. Anything you add with a second passport should complement those destinations. “Doubling up” with the same visa-free destinations offers no real benefit. The La Vida Passport Investment Report will analyse for you your personal combination and what fits best. Not just for the number of destinations but for what suits your travel profile needs and your existing passport. Is it GDP perhaps because you undertake a lot of business travel or Travel Popularity for leisure and vacations? Our report is free and La Vida is the only agency offering this level of analysis and invaluable service to our clients.
Spain’s Golden Visa programme grants residency to investors purchasing Spanish real estate at a minimum of €500,000, plus fees. Following ten full years of Spanish residency, the investor will have the opportunity to apply for Spanish citizenship and a passport. It is important to note that a citizenship application is a separate process to the golden visa programme and the two programmes are not directly linked. Latin American applicants and those who are citizens of an ex-Spanish colony (such as Mexico or the Philippines) are eligible to fast track to Spanish citizenship after just two years of residency, as opposed to ten.
La Vida offers over 18 programmes from which we can analyse and choose the best for you. Not only for visa-free travel but for the many other benefits to suit your personal needs.
